Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Hywave (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the ReciGo mobile application and related websites (together, the “Service”). By using ReciGo, you agree to this Policy.
1. Who we are
ReciGo is operated by Hywave. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at the email address at the end of this Policy.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use ReciGo, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple user identifier and, when Apple provides them, your name and email address associated with Sign in with Apple.
- Profile and preferences: Information you choose to provide in the app, such as your display name, cooking goals, and onboarding answers.
- Recipe and library content: Recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, grocery lists, and related notes you create or import. If you sign in, this content may be backed up to our cloud so you can restore it on another device.
- Photos and images: If you import recipes from the camera or photo library, images you select are processed to extract recipe text. Images may be sent to our text-recognition (OCR) provider solely to read recipe content.
- Subscription and purchase data: When you buy or restore a subscription, Apple and our subscription platform (RevenueCat) process purchase tokens and entitlement status. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Device and usage data: Basic technical information needed to operate the Service (for example device type, app version, and crash or diagnostic signals if enabled).
- Abuse prevention: A random device identifier and, if you sign in with Apple, a one-way hash of your Apple user identifier. We keep the hash and import counts after you delete your account so the free weekly import allowance cannot be reset by creating a new account.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve ReciGo (including recipe import, planning, groceries, and sync).
- Authenticate you, secure your account, and restore your library when you sign in.
- Process and fulfill subscriptions and restore purchases.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the Service.
- Comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of ReciGo and our users.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run ReciGo:
- Service providers: Cloud hosting and database (Supabase), subscription management (RevenueCat), and OCR processing for recipe photos (OCR.space or a successor processor). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple and App Store billing are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety.
- Business transfers: If Hywave is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
5. Data retention
We keep account and library data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You may delete content in the app or delete your account from the profile menu. Deleting your account removes your library backup. We keep a one-way hash of your Apple user identifier and import counts after deletion to prevent abuse of the free import allowance.
Photos used only for OCR are processed to extract text and are not intended to be stored by us longer than needed to complete the import, except where they form part of a recipe you save in your library.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong device passcode and keep your Apple ID secure.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at the contact address below. You can also:
- Use ReciGo without signing in (content stays on your device until you sign in and sync).
- Revoke Sign in with Apple access in your Apple ID settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Account Settings (Subscriptions).
- Control camera and photo library permissions in your device settings.
8. Children’s privacy
ReciGo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. International transfers
We and our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of ReciGo after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
