How to save an Instagram recipe to your iPhone (without losing it)
Instagram is full of recipes that disappear into your Saves folder — or worse, into a camera roll of blurry screenshots. If you cook from your phone, you need a way to keep the recipe, not just the post.
Why Instagram “Saved” is not enough
- Saves are hard to search when you are standing in the kitchen.
- Captions mix ingredients, steps, and comments.
- Offline cooking is awkward if you only have the post link.
Option 1: Screenshot (fast, messy)
- Open the post and capture the ingredient list and steps.
- File the image in a Photos album named “Recipes”.
- When you cook, zoom and hope the text is readable.
This works once or twice. It falls apart when you have dozens of recipes.
Option 2: Copy the caption into Notes
- Copy the caption.
- Paste into Notes or a doc.
- Manually clean the text.
Better for search — still tedious.
Option 3: Import into ReciGo
ReciGo is built for this exact problem: turn a shared post, screenshot, or pasted text into a clean recipe you can plan and shop from.
- Share the Instagram post into ReciGo, or import a screenshot / paste the caption.
- Review ingredients and steps.
- Save it to a cookbook (Weeknight dinners, Pasta, etc.).
- Add it to your meal plan and generate a grocery list when you are ready.
Tips for cleaner imports
- Prefer posts with a clear ingredient list in the caption or a sharp photo of a recipe card.
- After import, fix quantities once — future cooks get easier.
- Group recipes into cookbooks so “what should I make?” is a scroll, not a hunt.
Bottom line
Saving a link is not the same as owning a cookable recipe. Screenshot if you must — but if you cook weekly, import into ReciGo so planning and groceries stay connected.
