How to save TikTok recipes (so you can actually cook them)
TikTok’s bookmark saves the video. When you’re in the kitchen you need ingredients, amounts, and steps — not a scrub through a 45-second clip.
Why Favorites fall short
- You rewatch to remember “how much soy sauce?”
- Captions mix jokes, hashtags, and the real list.
- If the creator deletes the video, the bookmark is gone.
- There’s no clean path from “liked this” → dinner plan → grocery list.
Option 1: TikTok Favorites (keep the video)
- Tap the bookmark on the video.
- Find it later under Profile → Favorites.
- Optionally sort into collections if your TikTok version supports it.
Fine for inspiration. Weak for cooking.
Option 2: Save video / screenshot the caption
- Share → Save video (only if the creator allows it), or expand the caption and screenshot it — plus any pinned comment with the full list.
- Drop files into a Photos album named “Recipes”.
You own a file. You still don’t own a searchable, shoppable recipe.
Option 3: Copy link or share into ReciGo
ReciGo turns a TikTok share, link, or pasted caption into a clean recipe you can edit, plan, and shop from.
- On the video, tap Share → ReciGo (or Copy link, then paste in ReciGo).
- Review ingredients and steps — fix anything the caption left vague.
- Save it to a cookbook (Weeknight, High protein, etc.).
- Add it to your meal plan when you want to cook it; generate a grocery list from the plan.
Tips that make imports cleaner
- Prefer posts with a real ingredient list in the caption or a pinned comment.
- After import, normalize amounts once (grams, cups, “a splash” → your usual).
- Link back to the original video only when you need technique — cook from the written recipe.
Bottom line
Saving TikTok recipes means extracting a cookable recipe, not bookmarking another video. Import into ReciGo so the same recipe feeds your plan and grocery list — not just your Favorites grid.
